John C. Kuhn’s expertise and specialization is devoted primarily to criminal law in both Federal and State courts. He has been practicing for over 28 years and is Board Certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1991. He takes on every type of criminal case ranging from white collar crimes, organized crime, capital murder cases, insurance fraud, sex crimes, and drug cases to DWIs. John C. Kuhn is known for his innovative trial tactics, expertise in search and seizure law and successful outcomes. There are numerous published opinions from successful criminal appeals that he presented.
His practice is primarily in the Central Texas area including Travis, Williamson, Hays, Blanco, Burnet, Bastrop, Caldwell, Lee and Burleson counties. He is well known and respected by both judges and prosecutors in these counties. His practice extends not only throughout Texas but he has represented clients in other states such as Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and Washington.
John C. Kuhn has been of counsel for the Mexican Consulate in Austin since 2004, assisting and counseling Mexican nationals regarding criminal legal advice.
John C. Kuhn was born in Bryan, Texas and has lived in Austin the majority of his life. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree with honors from the University of Texas in 1981. He received his law degree from Texas Tech Law School in 1984. He is a member of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and Texas District and County Attorneys Association. He has been licensed to practice in the United States District Courts in the Western District of Texas since 1990. He was honored to serve on the Texas Grievance Committee in Austin for 6 years.
John C. Kuhn has competed in over 10 marathons, numerous triathlons, including 3 Ironman triathlons competitions in Canada and New Zealand. He enjoys spending time working on the family ranch in Paige, Texas and continues that work ethic in his everyday life. When not working, he a devoted father of 2 teenagers and enjoys spending time with them outdoor, including bay and offshore fishing in Port Aransas, Texas.
